Cysts are sacs (or bags) filled with water and they can appear on various places on the body. Epididymal cysts are cysts that appear in tubes that ”lead” the semen from the testicle to the epididymis. Although they usually increase because the seed accumulates in them, the cysts are usually harmless. Epididymal cysts are very common and occur in many men (at least one or two cysts) after their forties. The common symptom is a painless swelling in the upper back part of one or both testicles.
Your doctor will probably recommend the treatment only if the cyst has become too large and has caused interference (which is extremely rare). In this case, the cyst is usually removed (cut off). Operative surgery usually leads to sterilization of the affected semen, thereby reducing fertility.
